Hasta Lamalaña

The way I can tell that my Spanish will soon improve is that I say things like "Hasta Lamalaña" which is a mix of hasta luego and hasta mañana (ways to say goodbye). This means that I am thinking in Spanish and talking too fast (in Spanish) to make a proper phrase: gotta slow down so that people understand me. I have also found that I cannot formulate or type a proper English sentence because my brain is switching over to Spanish so I get a mix of Spanish-English-Jibberish. I also sometimes will be speaking to someone from back home and have to search for the English word that I want to use because I can only think of the Spanish word. Spelling is atrocious right now in both languages.  I am also starting to understand a lot more, whether its people asking questions on the street or talking with Marta and Ariel.  Hopefully this will translate over into my classes.

My friends and I have been better about using Spanish with each other. Yesterday we spent about an hour in a coffee shop just speaking Spanish and having like a fairly in depth conversation (not like super deep but not like "what did you do today". We agreed that since we mostly will be with each other (more than with our host families or in class) we should speak Spanish at least some of the time.

Today we went to an international food fair where probably 50 countries had tents with food from their country. I was not in the mood for food because it was so hot so I got a Haitian smoothie of papaya, apple, pineapple, mango was supposed to be in it, and banana. I waited with Sam for half an hour but it was so worth it!
