Hi friends,
Apparently today was the 100th day here. Tomorrow starts my last full calendar month here, June (then I have like a week in July). It's crazy! In the next month, I have to read a novel, write a semi-short paper about the themes in Tango (4 pages 1.5 spaced), write a 10-15 page paper about architect Oscar Niemeyer (look up his work, its awesome), attend a Milonga to practice all my skills (a milonga is a tango club), make a video about a Spanish slang word, and take most of my finals. Fortunately, most of the content I will be learning/writing about/tested on is interesting!
Besides all the work I have:
-I had food poisoning last weekend, but Marta took very good care of me with bringing me soup broth and checking in on me, and I got lots of sleep :-)
-I was hoping to get another trip in and go to a soccer game but it looks like neither of those things is going to happen :-( There was a miscommunication about the Argentina-Ecuador game I was supposed to go to on Saturday resulting in me no longer being able to go. Oh when things get lost in translation
Good things going on right now:
-I am singing in church tomorrow night with my young adults group (I accidentally got myself and Christa signed up to sing but am looking forward to it regardless)
-In the next month I'm hoping to go to all the places in Bs As that I wanted to go to but it just never happened
-Last week I went to the Japanese Gardens
-Today I went to the Museum of Bellas Artes and saw the work of many talented artists like Degas, Monet, Renoir, as well as some Argentine painters like Pueyrredon etc.
-Also made it to see the flower in Bs As that opens/closes and moves with the sun (photo compliments of Google Images because of course I didnt have my camera)
-I think I'm getting more comfortable and better in Tango! Today Christa and I went to a tutorial and there were 4 of us there (not only that but it was 2 boys and 2 girls, so I got to do the girls part the whole time!)
-I passed my UCA history midterm with a 4.5/10 (in Argentina a 4 is passing and I need to get a 5 (C) in order to get credit for the class at Gordon). I found out though that the midterm doesnt count for anything (GOOD!) but allows me to take the final!
-My Spanish is still coming along: yesterday I went to church group and this Argentine was asking me questions in English but I responded in Spanish because that was the first thing that came to mind!
-I signed my contract to work at Chop Point for a month this summer, so I'm really excited about that
-God has been opening my eyes up to so much about myself and my surroundings, which is a blessing (even though sometimes it can be hard to take in)
Continued prayers would be much appreciated! I hope everyone had a good Memorial Day weekend and is ready for summer :-)
Love,
Bot
